Historic Halt?

Old Chapel, UMass Amherst

A group calling itself UMass Alumni for Campus Preservation is calling for a mid-course correction on the $30 million Old Chapel preservation project, citing specifically the "trendy modernization" usage of glass entry doors.

Arguably no other structure on the sprawling campus has such a recognizable iconic stature, borne back ceaselessly into the (distant) past.

Welcome to UMass....

I'm actually surprised that they didn't try to discredit the dissident alumni with some sort of defamatory smear -- bogus mental health ones usually are used.

It's true, this redesign is a TRAVESTY. :( :( This idea of "making it better" is soooooo misguided. It'll look neat for about a week before the realization it was a bad idea sets in. Wait for the glass to start leaking and for the renovation to fall into disrepair... IF IT'S NOT BROKEN, DON'T FIX IT!!!!!!!!
